We don’t bill insurance companies for our services. However:

• HSA/FSA cards are accepted for all non-cosmetic medical & surgical services.
• Pathology services will go through your insurance or you can access our excellent cash prices.
• Labs can be billed through insurance or we have great prices for in-office labs.
• Prescriptions go through insurance.
• Upon request, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance. Please note that, in our experience, our visits typically do not apply toward your deductible or result in reimbursement.

We can submit claims for patients with Traditional Medicare as “non-participating” providers. We’re held to a different fee schedule, so your reimbursement may be slightly less than if you saw a participating provider. You pay us at check-out, and Medicare then reimburses you directly. Medicare also forwards any remaining charges to your supplement, if you have one, which then issues a second check. The whole process takes about six weeks.

Please note: this is NOT the process for Medicare Advantage, and many patients aren’t sure whether they have a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Supplement. If you’re unsure, call the number on the back of your supplement (secondary) card and ask.

If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, we cannot submit claims on your behalf. On request, we can provide a document you can use to file a claim yourself. In our experience, most Medicare Advantage plans do not reimburse patients, since they keep costs down by limiting choice.

Direct care means we don’t have a contract with any insurance company. Our relationship is purely with the patient. You pay directly at the time of your visit, similar to how you’d pay your hairstylist or accountant. This allows us to focus 100% on you, not insurance requirements. No referral needed, even if your insurance plan typically requires one. Insurance companies use referral requirements to control access to specialists, but in direct care there’s nothing standing between you and the appointment you need.
